Ju l 2 00 6 Production of cold fragments in nucleus - nucleus collisions in the Fermi - energy domain

چکیده
The reaction mechanism of nucleus-nucleus collisions at projectile energies around the Fermi energy is investigated with emphasis on the production of fragmentation-like residues. The results of simulations are compared to experimental mass distributions of elements with Z = 21-29 observed in the reactions 86 Kr+ 124,112 Sn at 25 AMeV. The model of incomplete fusion is modified and a component of excitation energy of the cold fragment dependent on isospin asymmetry is introduced. The modifications in the model of incomplete fusion appear consistent with both overall model framework and available experimental data. A prediction is provided for the production of very neutron-rich nuclei using a secondary beam of 132 Sn where e.g. the 1 reaction 132 Sn+ 238 U at 28 AMeV appears as a possible alternative to the use of fragmentation reactions at higher energies.

We argue that the shape of the system-size dependence of strangeness production in nucleus-nucleus collisions can be understood in a picture that is based on the formation of clusters of overlapping strings. A string percolation model combined with a statistical description of the hadronization yields a quantitative agreement with the data at √ s N N = 17.3 GeV. The model is also applied to RHI...

We discuss the dynamics of finite systems within molecular dynamics models. Signatures of a critical behavior are analyzed and compared to experimental data both in nucleus-nucleus and metallic cluster collisions. We suggest the possibility to explore the instability region via tunneling. In this way we can obtain fragments at very low temperatures and densities. We call these fragments quantum...

We propose a method to experimentally study the equation of state of strongly interacting matter created at the early stage of nucleus–nucleus collisions. The method exploits the relation between relative entropy and energy fluctuations and equation of state. As a measurable quantity, the ratio of properly filtered multiplicity to energy fluctuations is proposed. Within a statistical approach t...

The ratio of properly filtered multiplicity to energy fluctuations is shown to be sensitive to the equation of state of strongly interacting matter. Within a statistical approach to the early stage of nucleus–nucleus collisions, the ratio manifests a non–monotonic collision energy dependence with a maximum in the domain where the onset of deconfinement occurs.
